MR1830W Water-Soluble Acrylic Resin | Solving Low-Temperature Curing Pain Points in Aqueous Metal Coating, A High-Gloss, High-Adhesion Environmentally Friendly Film-Forming Agent
Release time:2026-05-18
1. Application Scenarios
Applicable Products: Water-based electroplating varnish, water-based metal baking paint (tinplate, electroplated parts, hardware components, etc.)
Working Conditions: Automatic & manual spraying lines, indoor & mild outdoor metal coating
Core Pain Points:
- High curing temperature of traditional paint easily damages heat-sensitive substrates
- Poor adhesion and leveling performance on metal surfaces
- Insufficient gloss fails to retain metallic luster of electroplated parts
- High VOC emission brings heavy environmental compliance pressure
2. Core Technical Solution
Resin System:
Adopt MR1830W waterborne acrylic resin (Solid content: 50%, Tg: 35℃), combined with Cytec 325/385 amino crosslinker and AD7581 adhesion promoter to form low-temperature curing system
Curing Parameter:
100℃~120℃, 20~30min. Lower curing temperature available via formula adjustment
- Flexibility: Resists cracking & peeling under metal deformation
- Adhesion: Passes cross-cut test without complicated pretreatment
- Wear Resistance: Film hardness reaches 2H, scratch-resistant
- Oil, Chemical & Salt Spray Resistance: Meets anti-oil and anti-sweat requirements for indoor hardware

3. Solution Comparison
| Comparison Dimension | Traditional High-temperature Water-based Acrylic Baking Paint Solution | MR1830W Low-temperature Curing Solution | Core Advantages |
| Curing Temperature | 120~150℃ high-temperature baking | 100℃~120℃ (optimizable to 80-90℃) | Low-temperature curing, energy saving and efficiency increased by over 30%, suitable for heat-sensitive substrates |
| Flexibility Performance | Relatively high Tg, brittle film prone to cracking | Tg 35℃, balanced hardness and flexibility, no sticky back, better compatibility for amino crosslinking | Good temperature difference adaptability, no film cracking risk |
| Oil Resistance | Rely on high-content crosslinker, easy to reduce workability | Stable oil resistance with amino crosslinker without affecting workability | Flexible formula, balancing performance and construction convenience |
| Substrate Compatibility | Unstable adhesion on stainless steel and galvanized sheet, extra pretreatment required | Excellent adhesion on most metal substrates, compatible with electroplated parts, stainless steel and other substrates | Reduce pretreatment processes and production defective rate |
4. Conclusion & Selection Recommendation
Conclusion:
MR1830W is specially developed for water-based metal coating. It achieves balanced high gloss, superior adhesion and easy construction under 100℃ curing. It effectively solves high-temperature damage, poor adhesion and luster loss problems, serving as ideal film-forming material for electroplating varnish and indoor metal baking paint.
- Ideal for electroplated varnish, tinplate and stainless steel hardware coating
- Match with dedicated adhesion promoter when applied on aluminum materials
- Not suitable for plastic and harsh outdoor exposure; weather-resistant additives required for outdoor use

6. FAQ
Q1: Is 100℃ the minimum curing temperature?
A1: Standard curing temperature is 100℃. Lower temperature curing at 80-90℃ can be realized by adjusting crosslinker and catalyst. Performance test is necessary before formal production.
Q2: Can it be diluted directly with pure water?
A2: Unlimited water dilution is supported. Mixed solvent with ethanol, isopropanol and BCS is recommended to stabilize viscosity and film quality. Seal storage to avoid pH value fluctuation.
Q3: Gloss performance and applicability for mirror electroplated surface?
A3: 60° gloss reaches 94.3Gs for single-component varnish. It perfectly restores metallic mirror effect. Leveling agent can further enhance surface smoothness.
